Do Indians need to submit the passport when applying for a Dubai visit visa?
No, you do not need to submit your physical passport when applying for a Dubai visit visa, as the visa process is conducted entirely online through the e-visa system. The Dubai e-visa allows you to complete your application and submit all required documents digitally, eliminating the need to visit an embassy or consulate in person.

Here’s how it works:

  • Digital submission: During the application process, you will be asked to upload a scanned copy of the relevant pages of your passport, particularly the bio-data page (which contains your personal details) and, if required, the back page. These scanned copies should be clear and legible, meeting the specified resolution and format requirements.
  • No physical submission Required: Since the process is entirely digital, you do not need to physically submit your passport or any other documents to the visa processing authorities. Everything can be managed through the online platform or via the authorized sponsor handling your visa application.
  •  Passport validity: Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of your intended entry into Dubai. Even though you’re not submitting your passport in person, its validity is crucial for the visa approval process. If your passport is close to expiring, renew it before applying for the visa.
  • E-Visa issuance: Once your visa is approved, it will be issued as an e-visa, which is electronically linked to your passport number. You will receive the e-visa via email, which you can print out or save on your mobile device. This electronic visa will be scanned and verified by immigration authorities upon your arrival in Dubai.
  • Security and authenticity: The e-visa system is designed to be secure and efficient. By linking the visa electronically to your passport number, the UAE authorities ensure that your visa is authentic and that your personal information is protected.
  • In conclusion, the Dubai e-visa process is streamlined to provide maximum convenience, allowing you to apply for and receive your visa without the need for physical passport submission. Just ensure that your passport meets the validity requirements and that the scanned copies you upload are clear and accurate.
Can Indians enter other Emirates on a Dubai tourist visa?
Yes, a Dubai visa allows you to enter and move freely within all seven Emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), not just Dubai. The UAE comprises Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah. Once you hold a valid Dubai visa, you can travel across these Emirates without needing additional permits or visas.

Here’s how it works:

  • Single Visa for All Emirates: The visa issued for Dubai is valid for entry into any of the other six Emirates. Whether your travel plans include visiting the beaches of Ajman, the cultural sites of Sharjah, or the desert landscapes of Abu Dhabi, your Dubai visa covers it all.
  • Inter-Emirate Travel: The UAE has a well-connected infrastructure, making travel between Emirates convenient. You can use various modes of transportation, including buses, taxis, rental cars, or even domestic flights, to move from one Emirate to another.
  • Airport Entry and Exit: You can enter and exit the UAE through any of its international airports, regardless of the Emirate where your visa was issued. For instance, if you arrive at Dubai International Airport but wish to depart from Abu Dhabi International Airport, your Dubai visa will still be valid.
  • Stay Within Validity: While you can travel freely between the Emirates, ensure your travel and stay aligned with the validity of your visa. Overstaying your visa in any Emirate will result in penalties and could affect future travel plans.
  • Traveling to Special Zones: Certain areas within the UAE, such as the free zones, may have specific regulations. However, for regular tourism or business purposes, your Dubai visa will suffice across the country.
  • Border Entry Points: If you’re entering the UAE from neighbouring countries (e.g., Oman), your Dubai visa will also be valid for entry at land border points. Ensure you carry a copy of your visa, as you may need to present it at checkpoints.
  • In summary, with a Dubai visa, you can explore the rich diversity of the UAE without worrying about additional entry requirements for each Emirate. This makes it easier for travellers to experience the full range of attractions and activities the country has to offer.

  • Increase Financial Proof: Provide additional evidence of your financial stability, such as bank statements, proof of income, or sponsorship letters.
  • Consider a Sponsor: If your financial status is a concern, having a UAE-based sponsor who can vouch for your expenses may strengthen your application.

What should I do if I make a mistake on my UAE visa application?
If you notice any typos or incorrect information on your approved Dubai e-visa, such as a misspelt name, incorrect passport number, or wrong dates, it’s crucial to address this immediately. Incorrect details can lead to complications at immigration or even denial of entry.

  • Contact Your Sponsor or Visa Provider: Notify your sponsor or the platform where you applied as soon as possible. They may be able to correct the mistake without needing to submit a new application.
  • Embassy Assistance: If the mistake cannot be corrected through the online system, you may need to visit the UAE embassy or consulate to resolve the issue.
  • Timing: Address the issue as soon as you notice it to avoid delays or problems with your travel plans.

How can I ensure my Dubai visa is still valid if my travel plans change?
If your travel plans to Dubai are delayed or change after you receive your visa, you must ensure that your visa is still valid for your new travel dates.

  • Check validity period: Confirm the visa’s validity period (usually starting from the date of issue or intended entry) and ensure it aligns with your new travel dates.
  • Extensions: If your visa is close to expiring, consider applying for an extension before your intended travel date. This might require reapplying or contacting your visa provider.
  • Cancellation and reapplication: If your plans are significantly delayed, it might be best to cancel your current visa and reapply closer to your new travel date to avoid any complications.
Can I use my Dubai visa for multiple entries?
Standard Dubai tourist visas are typically single-entry, meaning you can enter Dubai once during the visa’s validity. If you need to make multiple entries, you should apply for a multiple-entry visa, which allows multiple visits during its validity period.

Here are multiple entry visa information:

1. Dubai 60 days multiple entry
2. Dubai 5 years multiple entry
Can I extend my stay in Dubai?
Yes, you can extend your stay in Dubai by applying for a visa extension. Indian citizens, like most other nationalities, have the option to extend their Dubai visa for an additional 30 days. Here’s how you can go about it:

  • 1. Eligibility for extension: Most types of Dubai visas, including tourist and visit visas, are eligible for extension. However, some visas, such as special entry visas or certain short-term visit visas, may not be extendable. It’s essential to check the specific terms of your visa before applying for an extension.
  • 2. How to apply for an extension: Contact your sponsor: If your visa was obtained through an authorized sponsor (such as Atlys or a travel agency), you must contact them to initiate the extension process. They will submit the necessary application on your behalf.
  • General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA): You can apply for the extension through the GDRFA, either online via their official portal or by visiting one of their service centres in Dubai. The GDRFA handles all visa-related matters, including extensions.
  • 3. Documents required: Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the new extended visa period.
  • Current visa: A copy of your current visa or entry permit.
  • Proof of accommodation: Documents showing where you will be staying during the extended period.
  • Extension application form: This form can be completed online or in person at the GDRFA centre.
  • Photograph: A recent passport-sized photo may be required for the application.
  • 4. Fees and processing time: Extension fee: A fee is associated with extending your visa, typically around AED 1200 -1373, depending on the visa type.
  • Processing time: The extension process usually takes 1-3 business days, but applying well before your current visa expires is advisable.
  • 5. Multiple extensions: Second extension: In many cases, you can apply for a second extension, allowing you to stay in Dubai for an additional 30 days after the first extension. However, the total stay should not exceed 90 days from your initial entry.
  • Limitations: Be aware that repeatedly extending your visa without a valid reason could raise concerns with immigration authorities and may affect future visa applications.
  • 6. Travel during the extension period: Staying within the UAE: Once your visa is extended, you can continue to travel within Dubai and the other Emirates as usual. However, leaving the UAE during the extension period may result in the visa being voided, so it’s essential to plan accordingly.
  • 7. Grace period: Grace period consideration: Sometimes, a grace period may be granted after your visa expires, during which you can apply for an extension without incurring fines. However, this is not always guaranteed, so applying for an extension before your visa expires is crucial.
  • 8. What if my extension is denied?: Alternative options: If your extension application is denied, you must leave the UAE before your current visa expires to avoid penalties. Alternatively, you can reapply for a new visa from your home country or a neighbouring country and re-enter Dubai if needed.
In summary, extending your stay in Dubai is a straightforward process, provided you meet the eligibility criteria and submit your application in a timely manner. Always ensure your passport is valid, and consult with your visa sponsor or the GDRFA to navigate the extension process smoothly.
