Visa Overview

E-Visa

  • The Uganda e-Visa is an electronic visa system issued by the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control Uganda for Indian citizens travelling to Uganda for tourism, business, family visits, or short-term purposes. The entire application process is completed online, where applicants fill out the visa form, upload documents, pay the visa fee digitally, and receive visa approval electronically without visiting the embassy.
  • Applicants are generally required to submit a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), recent passport-size photograph, return flight ticket, hotel booking or invitation letter, travel itinerary, and financial proof such as bank statements. Depending on the purpose of travel, additional documents like a business invitation letter or sponsor details may also be required. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Uganda.
  • After submission, the immigration authorities review the application and may request additional documents or clarification if necessary. Once approved, the e-Visa approval letter is sent by email and must be printed and carried during travel. On arrival in Uganda, immigration officers verify the approval and stamp the passport for entry.

Processing Time:

  • Uganda e-Visa processing generally takes around 3–7 working days, although delays may occur depending on document verification and application volume. Applicants are advised to apply at least 1–2 weeks before travel.
  • The visa validity, number of entries, and permitted duration of stay are mentioned in the approval and must be strictly followed. Even after e-Visa approval, final entry permission is always decided by immigration authorities at the port of entry.
