  • Goa Gajah, commonly known as the Elephant Cave, is an important historical and cultural sightseeing attraction in Bali located near Ubud.

  • It is believed to date back to the 11th century and reflects both Hindu and Buddhist influences, making it a significant example of Bali’s early religious harmony. The main entrance is a dramatic stone-carved cave shaped like a giant face, which was historically used as a spiritual gateway for meditation and protection.

  • Inside the cave, there are small niches and relic spaces once used by monks for meditation. Outside, the complex features beautifully carved stone bathing pools with fountains that were used for ritual purification ceremonies, as well as lush gardens and ancient statues surrounded by jungle.
