Upon arrival at Paro Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to Thimphu, situated at an altitude of 7,710 ft. On arrival, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk around Thimphu town, exploring local markets, quaint streets, and experiencing the calm and vibrant atmosphere of Bhutan’s capital. Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu.

Punākha

After breakfast at your hotel in Thimphu, begin your sightseeing with a visit to Kuensel Phodrang, a serene location featuring a giant Buddha statue atop the hill, offering panoramic views of the valley. Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, an important religious monument, and explore the Folk Heritage Museum, which showcases traditional Bhutanese life and culture. In the afternoon, visit Sangaygang Viewpoint for breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, followed by the historic Changangkha Monastery. Proceed to the Takin Preserve Centre, where you can observe Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin, in its natural habitat. Conclude the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the magnificent fortress of the Glorious Religion, which houses government offices and monastic institutions. Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu.

Paro

After breakfast at your hotel in Thimphu, drive to Punakha (4,298 ft.) / Wangdue Phodrang. En route, stop at Dochu-La Pass (3,150 m) to enjoy stunning panoramic views of the higher Himalayas, often adorned with prayer flags and 108 memorial chortens, providing a spiritual and scenic experience. Upon arrival in Punakha, check in at your hotel and relax. In the afternoon, visit the Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Known as Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness), it served as the seat of government until the reign of the second king. The dzong also functions as the winter residence of the Je-Khenpo and holds historic significance as the venue where King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly in 1952. Later, take a short and easy hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, also called the Temple of Fertility, built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, famously known as “The Divine Madman.” Spend the evening at leisure to enjoy the serene surroundings. After breakfast at your hotel in Punakha, drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). En route, stop at Lamperi to visit the Royal Botanical Park, a lush garden showcasing Bhutan’s rich flora and medicinal plants amidst scenic landscapes. Upon arrival in Paro, check in at your hotel and relax. In the afternoon, explore the Ta Dzong National Museum, which houses an impressive collection of artworks, religious thangkas, and historical relics. Continue to the majestic Rinpung Dzong, meaning “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels”, which now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro and is a fine example of traditional Bhutanese fortress architecture. Paro

After breakfast at your hotel in Paro, embark on a scenic hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the “Tiger’s Nest”. Perched dramatically on a cliffside, the monastery is a symbol of Bhutanese spirituality and offers breathtaking views of the Paro valley. The hike takes approximately 2 hours from the base camp and passes through lush forests, prayer flags, and small streams. After descending, visit Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress that once protected the valley from invasions, and continue to Kyichu Monastery, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, known for its serene ambiance and beautiful architecture. Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

Departure Day

To Book any International holiday Or Travel Services, a Person has to make an initial non-refundable deposit of Rs. 19,999/- Per Person. In case a Person want to book air-tickets as part of his tour package , 100% payment is required as the time of booking. Balance payment is to be paid at least 15 days prior to date of departure.

Cancellation Rules: Cancellations of a tour package must be intimated to us in writing / Email & cancellation charges applicable are as follows:

  •  21 days or more prior to the departure or non-payment of balance amount- Rs.19,999/- per person
  •  20-15 days prior to the departure - 25% of the tour cost
  •  14 - 7 days prior to the departure of the tour - 50% of the total tour cost
  •  7 - 4 days prior to the departure of the tour - 75% of the total tour cost
  •  3 days prior or a “No Show” on the tour - 100% of the total tour cost

For the cancellation of services other than tour package (such as air-tickets/cruises/ safaris, etc) booked with Oxford Travels will attract cancellation charges as per the policy of respective supplier of the services. Oxford Travels does not take responsibility for fees relating to the issuance and / or cancellation of air tickets or other arrangements not done through Oxford Travels.
