The National Garden of Athens is a historic green oasis in the heart of the Greek capital, located beside Syntagma Square and the Greek Parliament. Covering approximately 15.5 hectares, the garden provides a peaceful escape from the busy city and is home to a wide variety of trees, plants, flowers and shaded pathways.
Originally created in the 19th century as the Royal Garden, it was developed during the reign of King Otto and Queen Amalia. Today, visitors can enjoy its landscaped paths, ponds, small bridges, archaeological remains and tranquil surroundings while exploring central Athens.
The garden is also connected to several important landmarks, including Zappeion Hall and the Panathenaic Stadium, making it a pleasant stop during a sightseeing tour of Athens.
