Activity Policies
- Entry: Champagne Pools are located within K’gari (Fraser Island) National Park. Applicable Queensland Parks access and vehicle permit requirements apply.
- Booking: No booking is generally required for independent visits. Guided K’gari tours and organised 4WD excursions may require advance reservations.
- Opening Hours: Access is subject to park conditions, tides, weather, track conditions, and any temporary closures.
- Duration: Visitors can generally allow 1–2 hours to enjoy the pools and surrounding coastal scenery.
- Swimming: Swimming may be permitted when conditions are safe, but visitors should only enter the pools when advised that conditions are suitable. Strong waves can make the area hazardous.
- Tides: Access and safety are strongly influenced by tide and ocean conditions. Visitors should check tide information before travelling.
- Photography: Photography and video recording are generally permitted for personal use. Visitors should remain in safe designated areas.
- Accessibility: Access may involve walking over sandy or uneven coastal terrain and may not be suitable for visitors with limited mobility.
- Safety: Visitors should follow warning signs and park instructions, avoid rough seas and large waves, and supervise children closely.
- Wildlife & Environment: Visitors must not feed or disturb wildlife, litter, damage rocks or vegetation, or remove natural materials.
- Weather Conditions: Rough seas, strong winds, storms, or high tides may make the pools unsafe or result in temporary access restrictions.
- Cancellation/Refund: General park access has no cancellation policy. Paid tours and activities are subject to the respective operator's cancellation and refund conditions.
- Changes to Access: The pools or surrounding access tracks may be temporarily closed because of dangerous surf, tides, weather, conservation work, or safety requirements.
- Important: Champagne Pools are a series of natural rock pools on K’gari's eastern coastline, where waves flow over the rocks and create a bubbling, champagne-like effect. Visitors should check current park alerts and ocean conditions before entering the pools.
Terms & Conditions
- Access is subject to the current K’gari national park regulations and visitor conditions.
- Visitors must follow the instructions of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service rangers, tour guides and authorised personnel.
- Visitors must remain on designated tracks, access paths and approved viewing areas.
- Visitors should exercise extreme caution around rock surfaces, waves, tides and slippery areas.
- Visitors must not enter the pools when conditions are unsafe or access is officially restricted.
- Visitors should not attempt to swim in the open ocean surrounding the pools, where strong currents and surf may present significant risks.
- Children must remain under the close supervision of an accompanying adult.
- Visitors must not climb, damage or remove rocks, vegetation or other natural features.
- Littering, vandalism and pollution are prohibited.
- Visitors must not feed, touch, chase or deliberately disturb wildlife.
- Visitors should avoid using soap, shampoo or other products in the pools or surrounding marine environment.
- Visitors should wear suitable footwear with good grip when accessing the rocky areas.
- Visitors should carry drinking water, sun protection and suitable outdoor clothing.
- Photography for personal use is generally permitted, subject to park, wildlife and site-specific restrictions.
- Commercial photography, professional filming or organised photo shoots may require prior permission.
- The pools, access tracks or surrounding areas may be temporarily closed because of dangerous surf, high tides, severe weather, erosion, conservation work or safety concerns.
- Visitors must comply with all warning signs, safety barriers and emergency instructions.
- Visitors are responsible for their personal belongings and safety.
- Organised 4WD tours and excursions visiting Champagne Pools may have separate booking, cancellation and refund conditions.
- Cancellation and refund conditions depend on the specific tour or activity booked.
- If Champagne Pools is included in an organised K’gari tour, the tour operator's cancellation and refund policy will apply.
- If a tour is cancelled or the itinerary is modified due to weather, tides, sea conditions, road conditions, park closures or safety requirements, refund or alternative arrangements will be handled according to the operator's terms.
- Late arrival or failure to join a booked tour may result in loss of the booking without refund, subject to the provider's conditions.
Cancellation Policy
Champagne Pools is a natural attraction within K’gari (Fraser Island) and does not generally require a separate admission ticket or reservation for general sightseeing. Therefore, no separate cancellation or refund policy applies to visiting the pools. If Champagne Pools is included as part of a 4WD tour, guided excursion, or travel package, the cancellation and refund conditions of the respective booking or service provider will apply.
