Activity Overview

The Falkirk Wheel is one of Scotland’s most remarkable engineering attractions and the world’s only rotating boat lift. Located near Falkirk, it connects the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal, raising boats approximately 35 metres in a spectacular half-turn that takes around five minutes.

Visitors can experience the engineering marvel through the original Falkirk Wheel boat tour, which takes passengers 115 feet into the air before sailing towards the Union Canal and through the Roughcastle Tunnel. Visitors can also enjoy behind-the-scenes tours that reveal the history and internal workings of this extraordinary structure.

The experience is enhanced by scenic canal views, boat trips, fascinating engineering, family activities, paddleboarding, canoeing, mini-golf, and beautiful Scottish surroundings, making the Falkirk Wheel a memorable highlight of any Scotland and UK tour with Oxford Travels.
