Activity Policies
- Visitors must respect the historic monuments, buildings and public spaces of St. Mark's Square.
- Sitting or lying on the ground, steps, monuments or other areas where prohibited is not allowed.
- Eating and drinking are subject to the rules established for the square and surrounding protected areas.
- Feeding pigeons or other birds is prohibited.
- Visitors must not climb, damage or touch protected monuments and structures.
- Littering and activities that disturb other visitors are prohibited.
- Visitors should follow instructions from local authorities and security personnel.
- During events, maintenance or safety operations, access to certain areas may be temporarily restricted.
Terms & Conditions
- Public Access: St. Mark’s Square is a public historic space and does not require an entrance ticket for ordinary access.
- Visitor Conduct: Visitors must respect the historic and cultural character of the square and follow instructions from municipal authorities and security personnel.
- No Sitting or Lying: Sitting or lying on the ground, steps, monuments or other areas where prohibited by local regulations is not permitted.
- Food & Drinks: Eating or drinking while seated on monuments, steps or other prohibited areas is not allowed. Visitors must use designated areas where applicable.
- Protection of Monuments: Climbing, leaning on, damaging, marking or otherwise interfering with monuments, buildings and architectural elements is prohibited.
- Littering: Visitors must not leave waste or litter in the square and must use the designated waste facilities.
- Feeding Birds: Feeding pigeons or other birds in St. Mark’s Square and other prohibited public areas is not permitted.
- Cycling & Vehicles: Bicycles, scooters and other vehicles are not permitted in the pedestrian areas of the square except where specifically authorized.
- Photography & Commercial Activities: Personal photography is generally permitted. Commercial filming, professional photography or organized activities may require prior authorization.
- Events & Security: Access may be regulated or temporarily restricted during public events, ceremonies, exceptional tides, maintenance or security operations.
- Nearby Attractions: Entry to attractions located around the square, such as St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the Campanile, is subject to their own admission tickets and regulations.
Cancellation Policy
St. Mark’s Square is a public landmark and can be visited without an admission ticket or reservation. Therefore, no cancellation or refund policy applies to visiting the square itself. Any ticketed attraction, guided tour, or activity within St. Mark’s Square is subject to the cancellation and refund conditions of the respective operator.
