Activity Overview

Roman Forum is one of Rome’s most important archaeological sites and was the centre of public life for more than a millennium. Once a valley covered by marshland, the area gradually developed from the late 7th century BCE into the political, religious, and commercial heart of ancient Rome.

Visitors can explore the remains of remarkable ancient monuments, including the Temple of Vespasian and Titus, Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, Arch of Septimius Severus, Curia Julia, Temple of Romulus, and historic basilicas. The archaeological area also forms part of the wider Colosseum Archaeological Park, together with the Palatine Hill and Colosseum.

Activity Policies
  1. Visitors must follow designated walking routes and staff instructions.
  2. Entry into closed or restricted areas is prohibited.
  3. Visitors should wear suitable clothing and closed, comfortable footwear due to uneven and historic paths.
  4. Running, climbing walls or monuments, crossing barriers and leaning over railings are prohibited.
  5. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, and lighting fires are not permitted.
  6. Eating is allowed only in designated areas; visitors must not litter.
  7. Touching, damaging, removing or writing on archaeological remains is strictly prohibited.
  8. Children must remain under the supervision of accompanying adults.
  9. Small dogs may enter the open Roman Forum and Palatine areas only in an appropriate carrier.
  10. Access may be restricted or areas temporarily closed for safety or conservation reasons.
Terms & Conditions
  1. Valid Ticket: Visitors must hold a valid admission ticket for the Roman Forum/Palatine archaeological area. The Forum Pass SUPER provides one admission to the Roman Forum–Palatine area and Imperial Fora.
  2. Ticket Validity: Tickets are valid according to the conditions specified for the selected ticket. Once validated, applicable tickets are valid for the stated period or day of use.
  3. Opening Hours: The Roman Forum–Palatine area opens at 9:00 AM. Opening and closing times vary seasonally, and last admission is before closing.
  4. Security Checks: Visitors and their belongings may be subject to security checks before entering the archaeological area.
  5. Designated Paths: Visitors must remain on designated paths and may not enter areas closed to the public. Walking or remaining outside marked visitor routes is prohibited.
  6. Uneven Terrain: The Roman Forum contains ancient, rocky and uneven paths and steps. Visitors should wear suitable footwear and exercise particular caution on steep or uneven sections.
  7. Visitor Conduct: Running, leaning over railings and engaging in behaviour that could endanger visitors or damage the archaeological site are prohibited.
  8. Protection of Heritage: Writing on walls or monuments, damaging or removing archaeological materials and lighting fires are strictly prohibited. Serious damage to archaeological or monumental heritage may result in criminal penalties.
  9. Children: Children must be supervised and held by the hand while visiting the archaeological area.
  10. Dogs: Small dogs weighing between 5 kg and 10 kg may enter the open areas of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill only when carried in the visitor's own suitable carrier. Dog strollers are not permitted.
  11. Appropriate Clothing: Visitors must wear clothing appropriate for a formal archaeological and cultural site. Costumes, masks and similar fancy dress are prohibited.
  12. Access Changes: Areas may be temporarily closed or access restricted because of safety requirements, maintenance, weather, events or other operational circumstances.
Cancellation Policy
  1. Tickets cannot be refunded or changed because of an error in the selected date, time, ticket type, or number of tickets.
  2. Refunds are only due if the archaeological site is forcibly closed by the public safety authorities because of a natural disaster. Refunds are made within 30 days of the scheduled visit, according to the procedures communicated by the Park.
  3. If the ticket holder does not comply with the Park's entry requirements, the ticket may be refused without a refund.
  4. Tickets are personal, and the visitor must present identification together with the ticket.
  5. For the combined ticket, access to the Roman Forum–Palatine archaeological area is available once within 24 hours before or after the booked Colosseum time.
